Bio

When a friend pointed out that the small trio from upstate New York looked more like a basketball team than a bluesy/rock/funk band, TJay and the Tallboys were born. With each addition, the band grew collectively taller, not by design, but by simple coincidence. Now, the band has grown to a upbeat, groove-oriented six-piece; all of whom enjoy pushing to the very edge of their musical ability. Drawing on influences such as the John Mayer Trio, early Dave Matthews Band, and Steely Dan, the Tallboys deliver a blend of rock, blues, funk, and jazz that will keep your feet tapping all night.

TJay and the Tallboys have had the honor of sharing the stage with well established artists such as The Doobie Brothers, Blues Traveler, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Ripe, Lawrence, Rusted Root, The Neville Brothers, Little Feat, Dave Mason (of Traffic), Leon Russell, Chris Trapper (of the Push Stars), Chris Baron (of the Spin Doctors), Southside Johnny, Fastball, Joan Osborne, Graham Parker, Slam Allen, and more. Their song “Goldfish” was chosen as a Relix Magazine Jam-Off winner and was featured on the Relix Magazine Compilation CD alongside artists including Gregg Allman and Keller Williams.
